leaking rudder post?

Post by mjcarney »

I have a 1979 Typhoon. It has a small leak from the rudder post into the cockpit when sailing in any sort of sea. I assume that some sort of packing or something is used to seal this off. Any thoughts? Is it packing or a seal?? Thanks

Martin,

Hey another doctor with a Typhoon!

I'm up in Oswego,NY doing family practice.
I think I have a leak in my 1972 tiller plate also because I cann't believe I can have a full bilge after a hard rain and the cabin closed and the floor not wet. So there has to be another entrance for water. I never thought of the tiller plate but sound highly likely.
