Question about CD27 stem plate

Post by John D. »

The bronze stem casting on my 1978 CD27 has three holes. Right now, the roller furler attaches to the forward hold, and the middle and aft ones are not used. If I used hanked on sails, I'd tack the sail to one of them, but I don't.

Here is my question.

Can I move the roller furler/forestay back, so that I can use the foremost one for a drifter? Has anyone ever done that? Can anyone see any problems doing it?

John,
I do exactly what you are sugesting. Furler attach to center hole,I have a shackle in the forward hole and attatch a block to it,and run the tack from the asymmetric through it.
