I need to order a new spreader base for my 1976 CD25, and I am 200 miles from the boat and the cracked spreader base...
I believe I've found the right part on the Rig-Rite website. It's SP-056-0, which fits the CD-3 mast. Can anyone confirm this part number, or at least that I've got the right mast section?
Also, can anyone tell me if the spreader bases are identical, or are the port and starboard bases different? I failed to make note of which side of the mast the cracked base came from, and I'm hoping I can order before I'm back at the boat next week.
I assume Rig-Rite is the best (or only) supplier for this part. Is this true? Any good or bad feedback on dealing with them? Any other suggestions?
Thanks!

Spreader base
I climbed my mast by ladder 8 times today while replacing my spreaders. See my post regarding replacing bent spreaders. The bases appear identical. They are attached to the mast with four screws and they are attached to each other through the mast with a large hex head nut and bolt. You will have to remove both spreaders to change a base. You might think about replacing both bases since you have to remove the spreaders. I have had good luck and best price with Rig Right in purchasing a mast step. Good luck with your project.

Thanks for your reply.
The mast is down and the bases are off, so I'll probably just address the one that's cracked.
Rig-Rite has the base in stock for $159. I'm going to talk to a welding shop about repairing it before placing an order. It's cast aluminum, and I don't know if they can work with it.
The crack is a hairline crack and is not separated. Anyone have any thoughts on ways to effectively repair it? Epoxy? Any thoughts on the wisdom of repair vs. replace?
Thanks for your input.

Repair Spreader Base
Ron,
Grind a vee along the hairline crack. Then heliarc. Done properly, the repair will be stronger than the original.
