Reefing a TY Weekender - How?

How do you reef the main for a TY weekender? I have a 75.

You pull the boom to the stern, out of its' socket, and then roll the sail onto the boom much like a window shade.

I have a 1981 TYW and realized immediately that this system stunk. I had a single reef point put in my main for jiffy reefing and have never regretted the decision.

You should have the sailmaker install slab reefing cringles - clew and tack. Perhaps you still have the old roller furling system - don't use it but get the slab or jiffy reefing system installed.

I agree with the two previous posts. Although fine in theory, rolling the boom to furl the sail is a major pain, not to mention degrades performance. I had a local sailmaker install two reef points in my main for the cost of $65.00. That was a no brainer and I definitely don't regret the decision.
