Did the Typhoon originally come with bow and stern pulpits, stanchons and lifelines? If so, where might the pulpits be obtained? (I understand that Spartan Marine has stanchons for Cape Dorys. But, they come in pkgs of 31.) Pulpits??

Re: Typhoon lifelines
I have a 1979 vintage Cape Dory owners manual, which includes the Typhoon, and it does not show life lines or a bow pulpit. I also have a separate a Spec Sheet and it too does not show either feature.Paul Owens wrote: Did the Typhoon originally come with bow and stern pulpits, stanchons and lifelines? The Typoons I have seen with life lines and bow pulpits, have all had them added later. When I could not find a ready made kit for the boat I made my own life lines and bow pulpit. I used all standard marine store parts. It looks great and the increase in safety is such I can't believe how I ever sailed without them?
If you wish, I will be happy to give you more information on how I did it Ernie

Re: Typhoon lifelines
Many sailboat manufacturers did not offer pulpits as standard equipment until approximately the early 80's when it required by law for boats above a specific size. Many "traditionist" sailors up to this time did not like pulpits, lifelines, or stern rails. They believed that many times it ruined the "line" of the boat. You will see Typhoons with and without pulpits.
