Boat insurance

Post by John Danicic »

To all:

This should warm things up.

It's that time of year again. Time to renew our boat insurance.

As I get various quotes, I am not happy with what I am finding so far.

Substantially, lowered hull values, or refusing to cover comprehensive at all.

What are other people finding? Any good companies out there?

Sail on.

boat ins

John,
I went to a broker last year when West decided to exit the business and ended up with Zurich which was better coverage at a lower rate. I also used them with the new boat.

Hmm...I didn't find that with our renewal of BoatUS....it was the same coverage as last year (with a slightly higher rate).

Hi...

i just sent the check for my ins to national marine underwriters...

i have had this ins company sense the eights and only had two claims and they all was pay with in two weeks...

i have had most of my boats with them, i like them...

no complaints here and the cost is just fine with me....

look in to " National Marine UnderWriters Ins."

just my two cents...

I was actually shocked at how well Progressive treated me, and their rates actually went down the next year after the claim. Figure that...?

I have my insurance with my household insurance and the price
certainly beats boatUS etc.

I have heard that if oyu are in the southern climates that the price
has gone through the roof especially trimarans due to their expense to purchase and price to fix.

Seconds on Progressive, they were quick to process and pay my claim on weather damage from this storm we just had a few weeks ago.

I was just talking to a guy on the dock and he was telling me he is having a very difficult time getting insurance to cruise to Mexico. Farther south is fine but not Mexico. Noticed there are fewer people checking in on the SSB net from Mexico also. ????????

On another board , they were told that there is real problems currently with boat thefts so many companies are not insuring there.

A group from our church did a mission trip and there is a lot of unrest in the country because some of the head drug lords have been killed so there is a power struggle in the crimnal sector... and your boat would be an excellent vehicle to transport drugs into the country...
