Do you want a trailer for launching or transporting your boat? If you want
a trailer for just transporting it and holding it in the winter,
convert a flatbed trailer. Here in St. Louis, a 2 axle trailer,
electric brakes, 7000 lb capacity is $700. For about $200 more you
buy some steel pipe and have a welder put them on. You then have a
boat trailer for about $1000 or less.

Four vertical supports are made of 2 pipe pieces each. One is sized so
it fits inside the other. Drill a hole through them, put in a bolt,
and you have adjustable height for the vertical support.Put a piece
of angle iron on top that is also thru-bolted. Leave it so it swivels
freely, Cover it with wood and carpet. This touches the hull. Have
the welder put some extra metal pieces that run front to back
where the keel will rest. The trailer holds 7000 lbs, but the boat
will concentrate all its weight on only 3 or 4 sq feet.

The flatbed portion is 16' x 6'. Overall the trailer is about 20'.
This can be extended by adding an additional shelf off the front
or rear of trailer (the boat doesn't need this, it only lessens
the overhang). NOTE: This is the kind of trailer used for transporting
cars also. I hope this helps a little.
