I am installing a diesel in a columbia 31. Have Hurth transmission, HBW 100-1.5R. Also have a one page instruction manual which has some ambiguous diagrams. Question...
When the transmission is in forward gear, does the output shaft rotate in the same direction as the input shaft, or vice versa?

Re: Hurth xmsn--really dumb question
I've replaced three of these transmissions but can't remember about shaft direction. Here's a way you can figure it out though. They use a right hand prop which means it turns clockwise as you face forward. Crank the engine over and see which way the crankshaft turns, by observing the belts then check which way the prop shaft is turning. I'm pretty sure they turn the same direction, but I'll check it out the next time I'm at the boat.Jim R wrote: I am installing a diesel in a columbia 31. Have Hurth transmission, HBW 100-1.5R.
