Any owner's assoc. in Northeast?

Post by D. Bednarz »

Is there still an official Cape Dory Owner's Assoc. in Mass? I wrote to the old address from brochure, but it was returned. Can anybody give me a phone number or address? Much appreciated if you can help.

Hi D. Bednarz,
Try Cape Dory Sailboat Owners Association (CDSOA.) For membership info and application you can contact Jim Turner (outgoing Secretary) tel; (609)596-8618, e-mail at jturner@net-gate.com or Bob Ohler (new club Secretary) tel; (410)535-9596, e-mail at bobohler@chesepeak.net. They are setup to be a national association, in fact, I joined last month.
We are currently sailing out of New London, CT and plan to attend a sail-in at Onset, MA in late July, hope to see you there.

Where do you sail from? We're at Marina Bay on Boston Harbor.

Thank you D. for your interest, and thank you Leo for passing along the information concerning the Cape Dory Sailboat Owners Association.
I will be happy to supply D. or anyone else information on the CDSOA...however my e-mail address was incorectly posted. It should read "bobohler@chespeake.net" I can supply membership information via e-mail or via snail mail. If I reply by e-mail, I usually send a cover letter and an application (MS Word Document attachment.)
If you prefer a snail mail reply, you'll receive the cover letter, an application, and a copy of of one of our recent newsletters, "Masthead," which we publish 6 times a year.
Our next land based event will be the Annual Groundhog Day Extravaganza, on Saturday Feb. 20, 1999 at the Holiday Inn in Solomons, Maryland. Please reply to John Sill at "jesill@erols.com" if you're interested in attending as we need to get a "head count" to the hotel within the next two weeks. (There is a charge for dinner, of course, and since John is coordinator for the event he can tell how much it will be.)
The CDSOA is open to all Cape Dory Sailboat Owners and enthusiasts. We all have one thing in common... that is our love for our Cape Dory's.
I will get replies to any inquiries that I receive out this weekend.
Bob Ohler, Secretary
Cape Dory Sailboat Owners Association

Hi D. Bednarz,
We are currently out off 'Ferry Slip Dockyard' (a 'dockominium' - sp) in New London.
We participated in several functions at SYC last summer, but my intense work schedule has made our follow-up (for joining) difficult. Our intention is to join as soon as possible. (read: I get going.)
We were over there several times, don't recall the 'Aurelia' (sorry.) Did note a few CDs and an empty slip 'Yankee Dory' (when I read that I thought 'this will be our club.')
Any plans on attending the Onset or Robinhood events? (Note Chris's new message on the dates and on the number of CDs!!!!!!) I think a CD30C out of Noank (Dave Stump) is planning to go, but unsure of any other local boats. I plan on about a two day sail, leaving Thursday before in the early AM, (haven't figured where the over night will be.) Maybe we could form a lose flotilla of sorts.
