Looking for good ways to secure the anchor on the bow roller assembley at the front of the bowsprit. I know that sparten marine has an assembly that will also capture the anchor, but it looks as if it requires enlarging the current slot to except the new bow roller assembly. Has anyone done this? Or do you have another suggestion? Right now I am securing the anchor with a small piece of line - works o.k. but thought there might be some better ideas floating around out there.

Pat,
I also use a small piece of line, run through a cam cleat that I mounted on the bowsprit. Cinches down smartly, and didn't cost much. Never had any problem with the anchor becoming dislodged. You can order/purchase a special device from West Marine that has a lever assembly that hooks to the anchor and has on over-center lock link to cinch the anchor down, but I think they are about $40.

Re: CD30 Bow rollers & anchors
Pat,
We have had a Spartan bow roller on the bowsprit of our CD28, for 10 years. The part number I ordered in 1988 was R610SPB. It does require you to enlarge the cut out in the bowsprit, but this has not caused us any grief. Just be careful to cut it square.
In addition to the roller I got a Anchor Shaft Bracket, also from Spartan. It fastens to the sprit with two wood screws and captures the shank of the anchor just forward of the shackle.
The two in combination hold our 22 pound Bruce, securely in all conditions we have encountered.
