How does the mast come off the CD26? I need to rewire this year, and would like to take the mast down over the winter.
I used to have a CD25, which had two pins on the deck plate. I could remove one of the pins and hinge the mast forward, using the main sheet to slowly lower the mast. The arrangement is different on the 26, and I would like to know whether it is possible to lower the mast myself, or should I have the marina do it?
Thanks.

Re: CD26 Mast
If you don't have an obvious hinge, you'll have to lift it off. It just sits on a step on the deck that's about three inches high. We (OGYC) use a cherry picker that we rent for a couple of hours -- we do about five masts/hr. Your marina's going to charge you to unstep and restep it and in this part of the coast that costs about $10/ft. You could rig a gin-pole, pick it up under the spreaders and lower it with a block and tackle, but that takes some rigging experience. I, for one, think it a good idea to take it down. There's a lot less stress on the hull over the winter, and the boat is a whole lot easier to cover.
