I recently purchased a CD 33 which appears to have the original Volvo MD 11C diesel engine. Have tried to replace the alternator pulley belt without success. I removed the two bolts holding the alternator so that I was able to slide it to the left. I then removed the belt from
the alternator; however I was not able to slide the belt completely off the flywheel because of the very limited clearance around the wheel. What else do I need to remove? Would appreciate any suggestions.

Re: Replacing the Alternator Pulley Belt on the MD11C
John, I have a CD33 with the same engine. On mine the previous owner cut out a 1/2 inch of the wood just in front of the flywheel. This gives me the room I need. Hope this helps. John,
On my 33 I had to remove the starter motor in order to remove the belt. The clearance didn't bother me then.
Hope you get it off, and I always carry a spare!
What's your hull number? Mine is a 1981 Hull#40
