I'm installing an electrical system on my Typhoon weekender and am looking for suggestions on where to place the battery (I'm using a small deep cell), as well as a good place to run a common ground. I will be powering a VHF, running lights, cabin light and an internal bulk head compass light. Also, I'm installing a mast head light and wonder if anyone has a neat trick for running the wire internally through a pretty cramped (internal halyard) mast. Thanks

Fred,
Place the Battery just aft of the cabin sole underneath the cockpit. Secure it with a strap screwed into the hull bottom. Encase your wires in that plastic covering you see in your car engine over wires. You can get the stuff at any auto parts place. The trick to threading your internal wires is; start from the top of the mast and thread a plumbers snake minus the plug on the end. Thread the snake through the hole for the fitting and just gently slide it down. It gets tight at times but don't worry just jiggle it a little. The next part I find the trickiest. Basically you have to connect the cable to the plumbers snake with a smooth profile. Be creative or alternately feed a smaller rope first then sew a this rope to the cable and gently pull.
Good luck!
