1gm10 Overheating

Post by Bill »

What are the odds?

As I was motoring back from a trip (engine had been running fine for 6 hrs) all of a sudden the temp buzzer/light came on. I immediately thought of the impeller and problems report on CCDOA bulletin board, check the impeller (it was fine), all hoses (there were no signs of rupture). When we finally got to the slip, I restarted the engine and it ran fine and did not overheat. A friend said that I had probably pick up something in the water to block the raw water intake. While I know this happens, it sure sound like a long shot!!!!!

Comments please?

Bill, It's more common than you think. The submerged and floating garbage and weed get pushed and then concentrated around the hull surface as the boat pushes thru it, just where the raw water strainer is.
