CD25D Dodger

Can someone direct me to a reliable constructor of a dodger for my CD25D? A dealer preferably in the CT/New Haven area would be best but anyone with experience making them for the 25D would be fine.

My (new to me) CD25D has a dodger and it is very well made. I think it was a company on Cape Cod. I won't be down to the boat until next weekend, but I'll look it up for you.

I had one built by Island Nautical in New York, it fit great and looks good. We love it. They (I.N.) have the template for the CD25D and
D.I.Y. instalation was easy. I.N. advertises in the mags. I don't have their address at this location.

I personally have had two dodger's on my 25D over the 13 years I have owned her. The original one was built by Paul McSorley Sailmakers in Bedford, NY (I think). It had a nice heavy duty stainless frame, nice shape & fit. Most recently John O'Neill Sailmaker's in Waterford, CT made the replacement. I don't think John does his own stainless work as I used the original frame. John's sewing craftsmanship, fit and detail are superb. I recommend you have zippered bow pockets installed as well as a zippered roll up front window.

Jim,

I've got a CD32 and its dodger was built by Island Nautical on City Island in NY. They've got the templates for most of the Cape Dorys. They're address is:

Island Nautical, Inc.
718-885-2295 . . . Fax: 718-885-0813
225 Fordham St., P.O. Box 207, City Island, NY 10464

I can send you pictures (electronically) of our boat if you'd like to see how the dodger looks.

Catherine

I talked with Mr. Hild (I think that was his name) last winter about a dodger, he seamed very pleasant and knowledgeable. My only concern at the time was that their standard frame was alumium (sp) but he also stated that they had "never" had a frame returned for repair (I think that was how the conversation went). Anyway, I didn't buy the dodger then, but may well do so this winter, or a friend and I may make one. To the point, could you send me some jpg's of your dodger so I can look at the layout. Please dont send to the above address, but to williams@health.state.ok.us instead?????

Thanks Very much

Bill
