When I bought my 1980 CD27 this year (hull 172) I inquired to Edson regarding a refit with a wheel. They promptly send me a full set of specs--a great outfit. Their info is:

They sent me a sheet entitled Steering Data Sheet S-769-1 for the CD 27. Interestingly, it depicts the installation of a wire rope and quadrant system. I would be interested to know if yours has a rack and pinion system installed. They also sent a complete catalog which has maintenance info for all their steering systems, all at no charge.
