Edson Steering Info - Need Specs

Post by Tad McDonald »

The large metal bracket (Edson part #739) on my steering system has failed (rusted completely through). The part is located under the cockpit sole and has the steering cable sheaves attached. It runs port to starboard. I need the width of the part for a 1982 Cape Dory 30' (#242). Edson has been unable to verify which one they supplied and Robinhood has been less than helpful (which is unusual in my experience).

This is the large steel bracket, bolted to the underside of the sole and has the sheaves bolted to its 'wings' on port and starboard.

Anyone have a parts list/catalog showing the dimensions?

Thanks in advance...

I can't tell you which bracket fits, but I do have the current catalog. As you may already know, Edson lists five different sizes for part 739: 18", 22", 26" 28" and 31". You may need to get underneath and measure! Or find a willing 10 year-old to get underneath and measure!
