CD25D Stuffing Box Re-Pack

I have a CD25D Hull#84. Can any one provide info on degree of difficulty and time needed(or tips) in repacking a stuffing box? The boat carries a Westebeke Diesel 8hp. Any advice would be appreciated.

I just did mine on a 25D. I would suggest getting the packing kit from Spartan Marine 1-800-325-3287 who made the original stuffing box and bronze fittings for the boat. We have a 1" shaft as you probably know. You will have to disconnect the prop.coupler inboard in order to pull the stuffing box and insert the new packing. Watch out for the folks who want to pull the prop and shaft! I got into big $ and problems this spring. Stuck prop and bent shaft getting the prop off! No big deal if the boat is out of the water.
