Here is my Cover Inspection after torrential rains poured on South Carolina, flooded homes, tore up roads and closed the Nation's largest Army Basic Training Installation!
What did I find? Click on this link to see my Inspection of Baggy Wrinkles...it surprised me too! https://youtu.be/RBUIvAGkW4c

Very nice, Skeep! I've been sailing every weekend since taking CARAL to a slip for the fall season. Great boat! Heaves to better than any boat I've owned, which is nice when solo sailing. I try to avoid spray, though, since the air temp is typically in the 50s!

Re: CD Typhoon in South Carolina
Especially thankful this year for a solid little sailboat which continues to deliver reliable if not superior performance time after time and is so simple to work with that it makes sailing memorable and fun, as one friend said, "the ultimate old-geezer boat!"

Re: CD Typhoon in South Carolina
Just more Eye Candy. I thought this view said so much about a sailboat that loves to be sailed, turning 42 this coming year! I liked it so much I chose it for the Baggy Wrinkles' blogsite photo header.

Re: CD Typhoon in South Carolina
The weather, fickle as el Nino has made it, restricted sailing to some narrow windows in the past month. Plus winter brings with it some interesting colors and particularly different light. I find appreciating these salient characteristics part of the joy of sailing too. On this midday, it appeared to be late afternoon. Light winds lured me to remove the outboard and let Baggy Wrinkles run free. It was warmish and delightful. Teak is basking in the light.

Re: CD Typhoon in South Carolina
That boat is so magnificent. My first keel boat was a 1974 Typhoon. I and a friend learned basic sailing on that boat. It is still my favorite boat. Because of having six kids it didn't suit my purposes but I loved it anyway. The only thing I think I would have changed is putting on a bow rail. There were times when I could have really used one.

That is an awesome looking CD. Very well done. I'd better get to work on our varnish
Where are the Baggy Wrinkles? They would really look nice on her. Several times I have tried to make them out of modern polyester or nylon and I can never get them to look right.

Re: CD Typhoon in South Carolina
Tim, funny you ask that on the baggy wrinkles' themselves. I had them on for about a year or so at the beginning of our journey.
As time went by I found them to be a bit too messy, perhaps due to the fact that small critters loved them for lodging. Since she is parked on the hard under pines etc., I think small bugs enjoyed sailing with me and then invited their friends over for a look-see, pretty soon I was finding more and more little bugs aboard. I removed them. Perhaps the salt and sea are a better mix for them. Birds would probably keep them clean if she were hooked to a mooring in sea water. They were, however, an effective preventer of chafe and much more classy than those white plastic covers which are so loathsome to me.
I looked back into the photo archives and found this view of the starboard wrinkle and a beautiful blue heavens above. These photos were before I'd renamed Baggy Wrinkles, and before quite a bit of hull work several years back.
However, after a while the wrinkles began to look weary...
Another view when they were fresher! So, decided the baggy wrinkles would have needed more sun and wind to maintain their vibrant appearance so I removed them and put the silly plastic protectors on the ends of the spreaders instead....

Re: CD Typhoon in South Carolina
The pollen has begun to fall across our state as pines and oaks and various others join in a blurrying green haze that seems to last about 2 solid weeks.
The photos below reveal so much about that as on the horizon the haze is due to pollen.
The yellow saturates the skies. Day previous was a heavier amount which enabled a circle around the sun. Due to my brilliance, I accidently deleted that series of photos.

Re: CD Typhoon in South Carolina
I offered to shoot photographs of our Yacht Club's Cruisers. Of course I was the photographer so I could not also skipper my Typhoon so I asked Fran to do it and George was her 1st mate. Here is one or two of the results:
