Re: Leoma update 8/20
OK I got lots of critiques on how wrong I made the snubber. Mainly the 3/4” line is way to big and wont give me the stretch After going thru the Practical Sailor study and testing Links sent to me by one of our favorite SOA members , it’s rccommended I use 3/8” line. The 3/8” looks so small I was scared to use it and went with 1/2”. I like the idea of minimum hardware and I let the guy at the store splice it for me. I thought adouble bridle would be double strength but when a gust of wind hits the boat goes to one side or the other and I think its only one leg at a time taking the full force. Also the bridle is not the last line of defense if ever it broke I first would hear a loud noise and I have a dyneema pendant snapped to the chain. I also have 300 ‘ chain I rarely anchor deeper than 40’ so That could all run uot and I have nylon rode splice onto the chain. I think I will be Ok especially since I dont plan to anchor in any hurricane though I have anchored in some lagoons where the currant can run in and out pretty strong
