Coast Guard, if found stickers help prevent un necessary search operations. The contact information allows the CG to call to see if anyone was aboard when the boat went missing. It also aids in getting your boat back to you if it is found. I haven't seen them on big boats but very good idea for kayaks and wind surfers that have no registration and are often left on the beach where they may be carried away.
