Are you sure you want that tank near the mast ? That seems like it will disturb the lines of the boat and you will be staring at it constantly. On my Columbia 31, the previous owner cut a round platform out of star board and mounted it on the transom underneath the pushpit. The disk is about an eighth of an inch smaller than the round base of a propane tank. The gas line goes underneath the quarterbirth and exits through a dorade that vents the engine compartment and lazzorette. It’s my thoughts that the pushpit is fair game for storage, like your dinghy outboard, fishing pole holders, solar panels, etc.

Thanks for the input. Your right. I'm still debating it. I actually wanted a small diameter tank that wouldn't be so bulky. Yea the 10" or 12" diameter tank is going to be ugly. Maybe it won't be so bad with a canvass cover. I can't find an aluminum or composite horizontal mount tank with the small diameter, Something like scuba tanks. On a previous boat I had 6' or 8" diameter twin tanks mounted up there but That was a boat built in 1949 in England. I think the tanks were steel. I really hate having so much stuff on the stern.
