I downloaded the manual that Ed Rant posted but when I tried to pull up the subjects in chapter 5 (drawings and plans gif.files) all I got was a blank screen. Does anyone know how to solve this ploblem? Thank you.

Re: Cape Dory Owners Manual
Sorry about the problems. I get this a lot. Due to file size restrictions on my website,(5 megabytes), I was forced to use a very restrictive format to reproduce the manual's illustrations and still have them reproduceable for printing in a legible form. All I can suggest is that you use IrfanView or some similar external viewer program to view and print the pictures. If you try and use your browser's built-in internal viewer you won't have much luck; you'll have to disable it and use an external viewer like IrfanView for your GIF files. Also be sure and go into IrfanView and under the OPTIONS, PROPERTIES, EXTENSIONS menu and see that the box next to GIF files is checked. This will associate all GIF files on your computer with this program. Note that the pictures themselves are pretty large and the blank view you might see is just a small part of the illustration that dosen't have any lines on it. Try panning around or zooming out to see the whole picture.I downloaded the manual that Ed Rant posted but when I tried to pull up the subjects in chapter 5 (drawings and plans gif.files) all I got was a blank screen. I hope someday to acquire a program like Acrobat Distiller which would allow me to include the drawings in a more compressed format within the manual. As that program sells for a couple of hundred bucks, it won't be any time soon, I rather spend the money on my boat.
To all of you out there that have struggled with my website's short comings I apologize and ask that you contact me and I'll see if I can help find some solutions to downloading the illustrations.
