What a spectacular view!
As we were descending into San Francisco International Airport last Sunday evening my first officer and I were treated to an absolutely fantastic view from the cockpit window of this majestic vessel. She had just crossed under the Golden Gate Bridge and was being saluted by plumes of water being sprayed from various Tugs. A royal welcome indeed! Even as we were descending from eight thousand feet she looked as large as Alcatraz. Truly a spectacular and memorable sight.
Queen Mary 2 under the Golden Gate!!!Wow!

Many of us have been lots closer than 27' to our local bridges, probably closer even on a percentage basis. All without a professional pilot on board.
