I have just had a sea trial of the CD 28 I am seriously considering. Under power (and at 3-4 knots) water started being pumped up the rudder post and into the cockpit. At 5 knots this was a considerable amount. I am almost certain I saw something about this on this exchange a few weeks ago, but now cannot locate any information. Is this common? Does anyone have a recommended fix (outside of remaining stationary!!)

You have to define "considerable," but water in the cockpit through the rudder post is normal. I get enough to get the cockpit floor wet, but it's nothing that floods the boat, or anything like that.
Where will you be sailing?

I had the same problem initially. The volume of water made quite a stream to the cockpit drains. I reduced it almost to nothing by wrapping the opening with whipping twine. It has lasted all season, has not interfered with the steering and has kept our feet dry!I have just had a sea trial of the CD 28 I am seriously considering. I had the same problem on our first motoring on our CD27. After smearing some waterproof axel grease into the post, I've had no more water at all for 4 seasons.
