I looked at a 30' ketch today. The boat had a forestay, but no stay for the next sail. The stay sail?. The boom is there, but wondered if this is correct to not have a stay and how it works without one.
Thanks,

There is no staysail
The ketch only has a club jib. It does not have a staysail as that term is normally used. The jib hanks on to the forestay, the tack attaches to the fitting at the bottom of the forestay, and the clew attaches to the boom with an outhaul line. The jib flys loose-footed and the track in the boom extrusion is not used. There are diagrams in the owners manuals on-line at the CDSOA website.
