My Depth sounder on my CD30 has stopped working and I want to replace it. The current transducer is located under the step/storage compartment at the foot of the v-berth. It penetrates the hull. I want to install the new transducer adhered to the inside of the hull so I don't have to haul the boat. At the current location, there is a block of wood glued in place which if I glue the new transducer to it, it would dampen the sonar waves and thus not function. I'm hoping some of you can inform me of another suitable location to mount the transducer. thanks, Scott

on my cd30k the transducer is located inside the starboard settee. there is an access door down by the floor and the transducer is just inside. of course mine goes thru the hull, but i dont see why this wouldnt be a good location for you installation also

transducer mounting
Our former boat was an Alberg 30 which had the depth transducer mounted in the stbd locker, inside the hull. the transducer was mounted in a 4 to 5 inch PVC tube, wchich was filled with water. The water conducts the sound waves to and through the solid hull. Seemed like a clean way to go. We lived in Michigan at the time, and when the boat was pulled for winter, we had to remove the water from the transducer mounting tube.
