The sail broker in Annapolis, MD... Bacon & Assocoates... handles NEW and used sails. This year I have purchased three new sails there...all from the same Sailmaker. These were sewn by an Aussie by the name of Rollie Tasker, of American materials, sewn in Thailand, I think. The workmanship, the features, the details are as good as any other sail loft. AND...the price is very attractive. I purchased a #2 genny, a heavy weather jib, and a riding sail for anchoring. I understand that he'll do a custom order, for you too, such as a main. The #2 genny on my 25D is "poetry in motion." For solo sailing, it is just the ticket for much of the time on the Chesapeake Bay.
I hope you find your suit of sails at the right price. As for me, I'm ordering a custom Tasker main.

Preferred sailmakers for CD sails ?

Re: DQOTD, How much do sails cost?
We got quotes for all three from just under $3k (Ullman) to just over $5k (North). I imagine you could get cheaper ones through some of the cutrate lofts, but cheap isn't my only criterion anymore. Neil Prydes package deal for thier mid-range quality with extra-durable finish ("trade-wind specs") came in at about $3700.I'm not quite ready to replace the sails on Hanalei, but out of curiosity, how much does a main, staysail, and yankee jib cost? I know it makes a difference by manufacturer, weight etc., but just round figures would be appreciated. Thanks.....

Re: DQOTD, How much do sails cost?
I paid $800 for a new stays'l from Hood Sails here in the San Francisco Bay. I think it was 7 - 7.5 oz. with complete luff and leech lines and a couple of battens if I want to put them in.

Re: Preferred sailmakers for CD sails ?
My sailmaker's loft is about a five minute drive from LIQUIDITY.
It's not just ordering a sail now and then and getting a good price... it's repairs, maintanance, washing, etc. Being that close was a big plus in getting the CDI furler from the loft to the boat, too.
Ask around and find a sailmaker who's local and has a good reputation in general.
