Can anyone offer information on sailing on Prince Edward Island?
PEI sailing
PEI is a great spot for sailing and for visiting, Charlottetown has a nice little club and races regularly in the harbour area. There are a number of working harbours around the island but you will not find a lot of sailboats outside of Charlottetown. The Northumberland Strait is a good body of water but there are not alot of places to tuck into, the other side of the island has more harbours. If you need more info I would suggest contact tourism PEI at 1800-565-7421 I am sure they would find you someone to talk with.

I just received my copy of the Cruising Guide to the Nova Scotia Coast. It includes PEI, the Magdalens and Sable Island. I ordered it from Hamilton Marine in Maine. It covers lots of harbors and gives references for all sorts of other information sources. There is also general information on customs and other cruising information. It is not a fancy publication but I do not believe you would be disappointed if you picked up a copy, Steve.

The Northumberland Strait is usually the way to sail and visit in PEI.You can zigzag between the coast of all three provinces; Nova Scotia and New-Brunswick and PEI with a lot of beautiful marina's and fishing harbors all within a day’s sail. There’s a two knots tide at the Confederation Bridge. some of the favorite places are Charlottetown marina Montague and Georgetown harbor, Pictou harbour,Victoria harbour, Summerside marina, Shediac Bay marina, Cap de Cocagne, Bouctouche marina, the dominant wind is southwest in the summer.
On the other side of the island is the Gulf of Saint Laurent big sail boats tend to stay away from the coast because of draft restrictions in fishing harbor’s but there are beautiful safe haven like the Malpeque Bay, ST Peters Bay, and Alberton Harbour.
Souris is a popular stop over if you’re going to the Magdelan Islands.
Fellows sailors tend to visit us after coming up from the Bras D’or lake’s in Cape Breton or coming down the St-Laurent sea way.
And to me with a draft or 4 feet it’s a sailor paradise and I invite anybody to come and visit us
