I had to get my newly purchased CD 25, Allia, from Cundy's Harbor Maine to Manchester MA this weekend. It was a long trip, but due to work constraints it had to be done this weekned or not at all.
On Sat we made it to York Harbor, with a combo of sailing and motoring. It was a nice day. Sunday was a mess. Heavy rain, 25-30 MPH wind from the south, and us headed straight into it. Allia, however, performed like a dream. Under power the whole way, we made it through the sloppy stuff and into the harbor by 7 p.m.
I was particulalry impressed with the power I had with the 9.9 HP Mariner longshaft outboard. We got nearly 7 MPH (knot meter broken) under calm conditions, and were able to maintain 3 knots into a 6-foot sea and a 25 MPH headwind.
Needless to say, after a hard day yesterday, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Congrats on your purchase - you made a good one! I too was going to sail my CD-25 Sunday, but the weather changed my mind for me. Instead, I spent the day in the slip and witnessed the weather from the comfort of the cabin. Avoid the nasties when you can, but take comfort in knowing your boat can take it on the nose better than most any other.
