Hi,
I'm sailing my newly purchased Cape Dory 25 "Allia" (found on this board) from Brunswick to Manchester, MA this weekend. She will be moored in Manchester from then on. It's quite a long haul for a weekend, and since the trip is to the south/southeast, I expect i will have to run my engine a good part of the way. It's an outboard. I have 2 six-gallon tanks aboard. I don't think that will be enough to make it all the way.
The most direct route is to spend the night at Isle of Shoals. But it just occurred to me that I don't think gas (or anything) is available for sale there. My Cruising Guide is on the boat in Maine. Does anyone know if I can get fuel, or should I buy another tank before the weekend?
Immediate responses requested.,
Thanks,
Eric Woodman

There are no public services at the Isles of Shoals. Your best bet is the Wentworth Marina at Little Harbor in Rye/Newcastle.

Congrats on the new boat!!! We sail out of Boston and were just thinking about a trip to Manchester, btw.
Being conservative, I'd carry enough gas to get you to the next gas dock *and* the one after that, in case the first one is closed, broken, etc. Seems easier to buy a spare tank than to be on the ocean with no wind and no motor in the rain in the dark with a dead battery you can't recharge and the current taking you to Portugal. <g>

ERIC- THERE IS NO GAS AT ISLE OF SHOALS. YOUR EASIEST ALTERNATIVE IS RYE HARBOR JUST A COUPLE MILES WEST OF THE ISLES. THERE IS A STATE OPERATED GAS DOCK EASILY ACCESSABLE AND IF THE HARBORMASTER IS IN A GOOD MOOD HE MIGHT LET YOU USE A VACANT MOORING OVERNIGHT. OTHERWISE IT'S AN EASY JAUNT BACK TO THE ISLES' ANCHORAGE.
GOOD LUCK
