I found a crack in my fuel line and began the replacement process and it keeps going down hill, I have a few questions and need some help. Caprice is a 1977 28 with a faryman single cylinder diesel motor. While facing the front of the motor and to its left side just below the alternator their is a fuel pump, I removed the fitting that holds the line to the pump, while doing this I found out that this fitting is spring loaded... you know the rest of the story... out she came and found those impossible to reach locations. Thank god my wife has small arms and could reach under the motor and retrieve the pieces. I now have five pieces that I have very little telling me how to put them together. There is a small spring, a piston like plug with a hole going through the centre and a groove at one end, two small pins one has groves like it would fit into and turn or be turned the other has a washer like fitting at one end and then there is the main fitting that this would all fit into.
My obvious question does anyone know how this goes back together?
My other question is does anyone know the size of fuel line that should be used? The one that came off it looked like 1/4 inch but the inside was only about 1/8 inch.
Thanks
Mel
