I have a Cape Dory Dinghy, but no information on it. I bought it a couple of years ago to compliment my CD25(ob). It measures 7.5 feet. It has a hull plate on the transom which says Cape Dory Dinghy, Hull No. 68. Now, this is obviously not a CD10. Does anyone out there have any information on this boat?

Re: Cape Dory Dinghy
I find your boat quite intruiging. My CD 10 had a small brass plaque on the inner face of the transom. I believe it refered to "Cape dory Boats' or INc. or something. I was wondering if your boat has similar CD quality like mahogony seating , trim and brass fittings as well as a similar hull shear and transom to the CD 25? My guess is that this coulld be a model name used by another manufacturer? I'd love to see a picture......

Re: Cape Dory Dinghy
Thanks for you interest. Well, I purchased this boat some time ago and put it in storage. I just pulled it out to restore.
Mostly, it only needs cosmetic work.
The hull plate is also on the inside of the transom. It has a rectangular shape. The following is inscribed on the hull plate:
Cape Dory Dink
Built by
Cape Dory Co. Inc.
373 Crescent St.
West Bridgewater, Mass.
HULL NO. 68
The boat does have some brass fittings (round rings) on the bow and the transom.
The hull shear is nothing like the standard Cape Dories. It has a straight transom and a typical bow (most like any dink).
As far as the woodwork goes it has flip up wood bench on the daggerboard box, a wood bench just in front of the daggerboard box, and wood rub-rails. I believe the wood is teak. There is no other wood on the boat and it appears to me that is all there ever was.
It has oar locks and a small square box in the bow for a sail-rig. I want to make a new sail rig too as part of the restoration.
I'll get a photo within the next few days and send it.
I want to restore the boat completely, including a sail rig, but can't find any information on it. I haven't called Robinhood yet, but thought an inquiry on the CCDO might turn up some information.
