Mike
That is very attractive and I would be happy to have my teak looking so nice. Did you fully sand all of the teak before applying? Is that Cetol light or regular? How many coats?
Thanks.

Cetol

Its all in the paper you use-it must have very fine grit. In fact it has no grit at all, it's green and rectangular. You will never GET any of this stuff at West Marine. Small amounts may be found in your wallet, but for larger quantities you may go to any ATM. A wheelbarrow may be helpful to carry the stuff to the yard. Pick a day when the temp will be between 57 and 63.5 degrees, stand about 10 ft away, reach into the wheelbarrow and throw fistfulls of the paper at the boat.
So yes, I had the yard do it this year. The wood was sanded, and it's two coats of regular Cetol, and one of gloss.

:D I can't stop laughing. Thats great Mike. (The joke... and the Cetol) I think you helped me understand the merits of Cetol with those pictures. Looks wonderful. If it's as easy as everyone says (compared to varnish) and can look that good I might just give it a try. After all, I will be a true sailor after I take off on my trip. And I think a true sailor doesn't like to line his teak with the Benjamins. Especially when he's unemployed...
The road goes ever on and on,
And I must follow it if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it meets some place
Where many paths and errands meet,
And whither then I cannot say.

I received some good advice re the use of any wood finishing product...that is to follow the directions on the can.

Cetol Light directs one to apply 3 coats initially...1 coat annually thereafter.

A cd25 is a sailors boat in that it is easily single-handed. I often sail past boat owners lounging on their "dock-o-miniums" lacking sufficient crew to go out for a sail.

The user friendliness of Cetol fits into my philosophy of the cd25 being a sailors sailboat. MORE time sailing!

awaiting splashdown....

Looks fantastic Mike! Well done.

I just finished restoring my TY and found Bristol Finish to be an excellent product. After cleaning the teak with a two part cleaner (Teaka), I applied four coats of the Bristol finish without having to wait for it to dry and resanding between coats. That's the beautiful thing about this product. Subsequent coats may be re-applied after only an hour or so, while still tacky and no sanding is required between coats. They claim that up here in New England I will not have to reapply for another four years!! We'll see about that. Anyone have any experience with this product??
