At one time you could download a text version of any CG light list from the Defense Mapping Agency, via a terminal connection with their computer.
The number I use to use no longer picks up.
DMA has been replaced by the National Imagining and Mapping Agency. They have a web site, but no mention of Light Lists.
The Coast Guard web site just leads you to an order form for the printed lists.
Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Coast Guard Light Lists
I went through a similar exercise last year: according to the coast guard webmaster, they don't publish such a list. It's interesting to me that he didn't mention the source you speak of when I suggested that the light lists were a natural for web distribution. My sense is they would like to, but aren't permitted to do so.Kim wrote: At one time you could download a text version of any CG light list from the Defense Mapping Agency, via a terminal connection with their computer.

From what I can gather, the beauracracy out in Pittsburg wants to keep publishing books for job protection. As you probably know, you can order from them directly and wait 6 weeks (or pay $14 for FEDEX, which will get you the list in a few days) or go to your local chandler and pay there.
I never got a straight answer about why paying for FEDEX gets you priority handling.

They have a bulletin board. Remember those? You can download lightlists from that BB. The difference is it's not a local call, but instead long distance to their Maryland office.
You need to register with them ahead of time to get a user ID no.
Send a letter (snail mail) to:
NIMA Navigation Information & Service Department
Attn: NAVINFONET Staff, Stop D-44
4600 Sangamore Rd.
Bethesda, MD 20816-5003
Ask for an information book and a user ID.
Good Luck,
