Fair winds and following seas to all

Post by fenixrises »

Hi everyone,

In the next few days I am moving to the boat full time. Shortly after that I will be departing for the Panama Canal. Of course I will no longer have internet access on a daily basis.

I want to express my thanks to the board members for their graciousness and information shared. The board is one of the things that has made owning my CD a pleasure.

A special thanks to Garrard and George, my two temporary crew.

I will report back from time to time as internet access is available.
I am leaving the website up and may even be able to post some pics and such as time goes by.

Generally the route I have planned is as follows:
Panama
Galapagos
Marquesas
Tuamotus
Tahiti
Bora Bora
Raratonga
Aitutaki
Suvarov(possibly)
American Samoa
Western Samoa
Tonga
Fiji
New Calidonia(possibly)
New Zealand(by about end of Nov this year)

After entering the Pacific my progress can be followed on these two sites:

http://shiptrak.org/

http://www.pangolin.co.nz/yotreps/reporter_list.php

Call sign is KI4MMB
Boat name Fenix

As of now Fenix is about 2~3 inches down on the WL and I still have to add 18 gals of diesel, myself and a few more bits. So probably around 11,500 lbs all up.

Happy sails to you,
Fred

keep safe, have fun, and come back (to the board).

I've valued your experience and insights; I expect you'll be adding to both.

Were I prone to envy, I'd envy you. But you are the one who did the preparation and had the courage to actually set sail. You have distinguished yourself from dreamers like me and I hope every reward comes to you.

Sail on,

Remember....we're all riding with you in spirit only because we can't be with you in body. You are living what most of us can only dream of doing. Have mercy on us and keep us informed when you can.

Fair winds and bon voyage!! :D

Fred,

I want to grow up to be like you.....

Your rebirthing of Fenix is inspiring to all of us, as is your untying to explore the world's oceans. My worldview has shifted over the last few years since I've been sailing. It now appears that there are all these interesting lands that are connected by great bodies of water over which one can travel. One day even a man such as I could follow your wake....

I just showed my daughter your route and she says, " We gotta do that Dad".

Safe travels Captain!

Fred,

The board is losing a tremendous contributor at least temporarily. But I can't wait to read your updates from time to time. As my buddy Clay Stalker likes to say "you are living large." Be safe and enjoy all that the sailing life has to offer.

Fred,

I admire and respect any sailer who sails off in a small boat. I only do so in my imagination as I sail off on small cruises.

Your life will be filled with many great stories and memories, not to mention, "bragging rights!"

We'll be watching for your return.
