Diesel engine replacement

I received a quote from Old Port Marine in Newport for $10,000 (installed) to replace my tired old Volvo a couple of years ago.

Since I thought that was cost prohibitive, I've been nursing the old diesel along since then.

This February at the Providence Boat Show I ran into a dealer for Beta Marine Diesels in Mass who gave me a quote under $5,000. Although that price does not include installation, for the $5000 savings, I'm willing to do the job myself. Even if I have to 'hire" help"

The new engine only weighs 200 pounds. Plus it includes a new transmission.

Pretty tempting ....
