Yachtsman (Fisherman's) anchor

Post by Dick Villamil »

What size boat will a 12 pound fisherman's anchor be good for? Also how is the cross piece fixed in place? I have never used this type of anchor but recently became the owner of one and would like to use it for my Typhoon - if it is appropriate.

be okay for lighter-duty use, but undersized in a blow.

Luke anchors (similar sort of anchor) recommends 2#/ft of waterline length for a storm anchor.

You may find one or two small holes in the stock for cotter pinning it in place on the shank.

I have a fishermans anchor that has a rectangular slot for a keeper. It looks like you would have driven in a wedge and then pinned that in place. The big question is where do you stow the beast? I have always read that these anchors are very good in kelp and cobbles, Steve.
