Hi There!
I like my two steel six gallon gas tanks, but they rust terribly. I've seen plenty of smaller (three gallon) plastic tanks, but I don't want to give up cruising range. Are there any large plastic ones that fit under the hatch?

John, we purchased two plastic six-gallon tanks manufactured by OMC. They have a similar footprint to the steel models which we replaced every two or three years on our '82 CD25 due to the rust problem you mentioned. Accordingly, they fit into the space in the engine copartment. This is only the second season, so I can't vouch for their longevity. The only problem I've noticed is with the gas cap, which are supposed to be self-venting. One of the tanks requires an occaisional "burping". We ordered them from our local OMC dealer. I forgot how much they cost, but I think the were less than the generic steel tanks and certainly less than the OMC steel tanks.
