Typhoon Swim Ladder

Post by Joe »

Gravity impaired owner of Cape Dory Typhoon Daysailer seeks easy-climb swim ladder suitable for very young and older sailers alike. Would like to benefit from your experience. Have already rejected rope and typical plastic ones. Suggestions?

when we had our cd22 we used a ladder available from boatus. made of a single 1" s/s tube, with 2 steps. extends 24" downward from bracket and supports up to 300#'s. ladder removes from bracket for easy storage. boatus #155002-10, $75. manuf by afi, part #75030.

good luck,

Hi:
After trying various rope/pvc ones, I bought a tubular stainless steel ladder at West Marine a few years ago. I like it a lot. I use it on my CD-25 and I find it to be very solid, and easy to remove for storage. Be sure to buy the shortest one available or the fold-down legs will be to low on the hull. I bought the second smallest, and ended up drilling and re-mounting the legs, as they were falling below the waterline/bilge. I should have bought the smallest one.
Good Luck,
