Boat Sandals

Hello to All

Well my trusty ole Teva Boat Sandals are slowly but surely dying an honorable death. They will be sorely missed and Teva (at least on their web site) no longer makes them.

Does anyone have a favorite pair of sandals for the boat? What brand, what kind of wear, anything helpful?

I've had mixed results with Teva. They seem to change their styles every year, so if you find a pair you really like, you might want consider buying a couple more pairs to keep in storage for spares.

For l little less money I bought a pair of the West Marine brand "Cooper Island" sandals which I think are just as good a Teva, maybe without the high style:

Sperry Fagawi. Turned up toe protection,helps protect from stubbed toes. Must be popular,I can never find them on sale. I got two summers out of them. Wore them every day,all day. I'm gonna by another pair,or two.

I never liked sandals until I tried Merrell Rapid Pulse II sandals. I wear them all summer long now. So comfortable and there's no friction points on your ankle right from the start. They support my heavy weight without squishing. Good traction. I never tried them on my boat. I don't like velcro shoes on boats since they seem to attach sheets when you don't want them.

I like the leather tops but the synthetic tops aren't bad. They come in different colors. I got them from LLBean.

Hi Bill, although the ebay listing is both for women and men, I do not know your size or if your feet are dainty enough for the female sizes

I regret to say that I am guilty of such a crime. I do not recommend it since my experience was that by the time I pulled the 'spare' pair out, the soles were so hard they had no grip at all, even though they had been stored in their box on the shelf of a cool, dry, unairconditioned closet.

Not your traditional sandals but both Melissa and I have pairs of these. They are all plastic but aren't hot and sticky like you would expect. They are rather cool and comfortable. We bought ours at a boat show. I have seen some less expensive clones around recently.

Try the new Keene sandals. Not cheap, but really comfortable.

I have a pair of Chaco sandals that serve as more than just boat shoes. They are not cheap but durable and comfortable for longer adventures(on foot).

I have used Teva Halyard sandals for more than a year now. They are excellent. Very good traction on boat decks, very comfortable, easy to care for. I live in a warm climate. These sandals are great for this. There is no leather to dry out or toughen up

I recommend crocs too....they're light, water is no problem, they don't hurt the deck, they have excellent traction and they float.
