We would like to be able to swim from our boat, but have no way to board from the water, (This is a safety concern, also). It looks like there may have been a fitting on the deck for a ladder over the port side, but it is gone and the holes filled. Does anyone know where the original type can be obtained, or which type of standard removeable ladder would work best?

We also like to swim from our CD26. Having tried a number of portable ladders on our previous boat and never having been quite satisfied with their function and ease of deploying, we decided to have one added to the boat when we purchased her. It is stainless, single folddown and mounted on the stern. We later added wood steps to the rungs of the ladder which was much easier on the bare foot. This type of permanent folddown ladder is more expensive than a removeable but it is very functional in rough seas and only takes a second to deploy.
