Hurricane Rita totalled my late father-in-law's Catalina 27, and the insurer paid the policy limits. My gracious mother-in-law has turned the money over to my wife and brother-in-law to purchase another boat for the family. After some discussion, they decided to buy two boats, one power and one sail. Being the only sailor left after the passing of my father-in-law, I have been chosen to select the sailboat, and the Typhoon looks like the perfect match for our needs.
So, I am looking for a Typhoon Weekender within a reasonable driving distance (there and back in a weekend) of Lafayette, Louisiana. It must have a good trailer that can handle some time on the highway, but everything else about the boat is negotiable. I've been pouring through this board and looking on other sights, and the pickings look a little slim in my part of the country right now (I wonder why?). Any tips or information are greatly appreciated. Matt (337-412-7620)

Great choice!
Consider expanding your search. If you find a good boat outside your cruising range, it's not that hard to trailer it back. Even if you have it shipped, it's a one time cost against a lifetime of quality sailing.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, I am a newly minted lawyer, and I cannot get the time for a longer journey. A couple of people from the region have made contact with me though, so we'll see how that goes. If they don't work out, I guess I'll just have to be patient until a Typhoon comes available in this area. It's really the only boat I want right now.
