Well here we go again and again. Last year after 18 hours, the impeller on my 1GM in my CD25D let go and began to slip on the pump shaft. Thank heavens the engine overheat buzzer works! I put in a new impeller and after a 9 hours, it too has let go with separation of the shaft metal part from the rubber. I now have a new impeller in place and wonder how long this will last.I guess we should carry several replacements on board. On the other hand, the impeller that came with the boat probably had 150 hours on it and I used the engine for ~200 hours on a trip to the Chesapeake two years ago. Any ideas on how to modify the impeller or at least find a batch that is reliable? Yanmar should pull the bad batch!! I have heard that some think the grease used to install the impeller does it and I wonder if 50% antifreeze is the culprit. I know that 100% antifreeze will destroy nitrile impellers - happended on my last boat.

I replaced my impeller over a year ago and it is still going strong. I get mine from WM (sorry, I dont have the part number at the house). Where do you get yours? Are there different manufacturers? I'm not sure how many hours I've run the engine since replacing the old one (just installed hour meter this spring), but probably upwards of 40-50.
