Last Saturday I completed the installation of an Atlantic T6E water heater into Hanalei. It is in the starboard lazzerette, includes a Sen-Dur surge tank, and is connected to the Universal 18, 14 HP diesel engine. Although I had to relocate the double battery bank, the installation was pretty straight forward. It is amazing how much plumbing is required to connect to the engine heat exchanger and to the faucet in the head and galley. The surge tank is mounted to a oak block 3" X 7" that is epoxied to the inside of the starboard lazzerett fore and aft bulkhead, so that when you open the hatch, the radiator cap is in the forward medial corner of the hatch opening. Now all I have to do is connect the 120 volt line, and I will be able to heat water at dockside.
I want to thank everyone that contributed information concerning the installation. Your comments really helped. The 1st. Mate also wants to extend her thanks, she did the dishes Saturday afternoon when we returned to the dock!
