Any advice, experience, etc. on conversion from tiller to pedestal and wheel on the CD30, particularly model that works best, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Marvin

Tiller to Wheel conversion for 1978 CD30?

Marvin,
Run, don't Walk, to Edson. They supplied the wheel steering set up for Cape Dory and will have a schematic for your vessel AND all the parts, quadrants, cables, pedestal etc. It IS going to cost you, but the wheel I think is much better than a tiller. I think their internet address is www.edson.com and they probably have a downloadable schematic and parts list for your vessel right there.

Re: More information....
Marvin,
Got more information on Edson. You can get a specification sheet on your type of vessel from them. It will list all parts required, and show a picture of placement. Contact them at:
Edson International
146 Duchaine Blvd.
New Bedford, MA 02745
Tel (508)995-9711
Fax (508)995-5021
Their web site is www.edsonintl.com. There is a lot of help available on the site. Good luck...

Re: Tiller to Wheel conversion for 1978 CD30?
Just for edification (that's a pun), Edson did not initially make the steering quadrants for Cape Dorys until the mid 80's. Cape Dory welded up their own parts. I replaced my old quadrant last year and was fortunate enough to encounter a fellow at Edson who was the QA manager at Cape Dory for about 5 years or so and he was quite helpful in finding a part that would replace the original quadrant without to much 'convincing.' Of course, for a new installation, that is a moot point...
