thru deck fittings

i want to lead the lines back from the mast to the cockpit; but, i do not find a way to get behind the headliner. Is there a way that i haven't found? Should I drill right thru and put the backing plate against the headliner? suggestions would be soooo welcome! thanks!

Cut an access hole in the headliner. When you're done, cover the hole with a circle of nice teak, screwed into the liner.
