Turning bronze green
I know bronze will tarnish with time. Is there any chemical I can buy that I can brush on to turn bronze green immediately?

Bronze Coloring
To Color Bronze.- Bronze articles acquire handsome tempering colors by heating. In order to impart an old appearance to new objects of bronze, they may be heated over a flame and rubbed with a woolen rag dipped in finely powdered graphite, until the desired shade is attained.
Or else a paste is applied on the article, consisting of 5 parts graphite, 15 parts rouge in enough alcohol to make it workable. After 24 hours brush off the powder residue.
A hot solution of 4 parts sal ammoniac, 1 part sorrel salt in 200 parts vinegar may also be brushed on.
Another way is to dip the pieces into boiling solution of 20 parts cupric acid, and 10 parts sal ammoniac, dissolved in 60 parts vinegar.
[double double toil and trouble;
fire burn and cauldron bubble]
Hope this helps,
Dick

Re: Turning bronze green
Funny... those who want/try to keep it shiny will tell you that it turns green virtually overnight.king11 wrote:I know bronze will tarnish with time. Is there any chemical I can buy that I can brush on to turn bronze green immediately?
