We recently bought a CD25 and found it has
a whole lot of lead weights in the bilge,
about a dozen truncated pyramids weighing about
20 lbs each.
We are wondering if this is a necessary or advisable
addition. Is there some reason to keep this ballast?
I understand the CD25 already has 1700 lbs and would
have suspected that is sufficient.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Extra ballast Advice Sought

Re: Extra ballast Advice Sought
Larry, what year is your 25? I believe some of the earlier models had 1500 lbs. of ballast rather than 1700. If that's the case it sounds like a previous owner was attempting to compensate. I heard from a fellow Dorian that has hull #88 and he said that his was built just before they increased the ballast to 1700. Good sailing, Jerry

It's a 1975. Is that early enough to have 1500?Jerry Hammernik wrote: Larry, what year is your 25? I believe some of the earlier models had 1500 lbs. of ballast rather than 1700.
