Saint Pierre Cape Dory ???

Has anyone heard of a Saint Peirre Cape Dory ?

My friend is selling his 18' powerboat and says its a Saint Peirre Cape Dory design. I'm sure it wasn't built by Cape Dory but does this design exsist? It has very nice lines but I think he is asking way to much money for a boat built in someones backyard. This boat was built in the early 60's and definatly by a craftsman. But is it worth $3,000 when its in fair/good condition ?

I'm not familiar with a St. Pierre Dory, but not a St. Pierre Cape Dory. I bought plans to build a St. Pierre dory sloop, but luckily reconsidered the the effort involved. A drawback is that the the relatively flat underwater profiles pound when she goes to weather, but are very stable and weatherly otherwise. The wineglass shape of a Cape Dory is initially more tender, but in the end far more stable, and far prettier. Let me know if you are interested in the and I'll search my archived dreams folder.
